Hitler rap.

September 25th, 2007 by Jarmo Puskala

In Star Wreck we had Spaceballs as the benchmark, with Iron Sky we’re still kind of trying to out-do Mel Brooks – this time with nazi humor. Only that while Spaceballs was 80′s Mel, we’re now up with The Producers from the 60′s when he was really funny. Anyways, seems Mel also updated nazi musicals to the 80′s with this clip from To Be or not to Be. Though I have to admit I’ve never seen that one.

This clip isn’t from the movie itself, it’s just a promotional video for the soundtrack. Movie itself was quite faitful to the original made by Ernst Lubitsch. Both are recommendable movies. They really succeed in making fun of nazis and the original is especially interesting, because it was made in 1942.

That’s right. And some of the Nazi puns from this song were later reused in the (excellent) musical version of The Producers that runs on Broadway, West End, and now also in Helsinki.

Don’t be stupid, be a smarty.
Come and join the Nazi Party!

  3. That pun was actually in the 1968 version of The Producers as well. A Movie so excellent, it’s gotten us thinking of actually going to watch the Helsinki musical…

moi c”est raciste et j’aim hitler vive hitler donner les photo

  5. To translate that previous comment, it seems that Mr Tariq is claiming that he is a racist who loves Mr Hitler (all done with a rather poor grasp on French spelling). I’m not quite sure about that last bit but it seems to me that it would translate as “gimme sum photos”. Anyone with a better command of the French language, please feel free to correct me.
