Casual Friday.

Casual friday - Energia style

It’s friday, so mikko is dressed up as a space nazi and posing on top of two office chairs, pretending the camera tripod is a sub-machine gun.

It’s all part of day’s work here at Energia. What we’re going to do with the pics is that Jussi takes them to Photoshop and uses them as stand-ins in a scene he’s painting.

Samuel L. Jackson wears some Hugo Boss.

August 25th, 2008 @ 14:05 | by Jarmo Puskala

Samuel L. Jackson models for Hugo Boss.

Sadly this is not a shot from Iron Sky, but from Frank Miller’s upcoming film adaptation of The Spirit. A movie that’s looking seriously awesome in it’s own right. Check out the trailers.

According to MTV there’s a logical (well, sort of…) explanation for the choise of clothes:

The Octopus, The Spirits arch-enemy. “[In the comics he’s] just a pair of gloves. [So we made a decision] that the Octopus has a theme of dressing the way he feels everyday, or having a theme to his day to day life and making some sense with it. It’s just an opportunity to be larger than life.”

“There’s an Asian sort of theme so we went with the samurai outfit. A whole torture scene so Frank decided, let’s go Third Reich. It’s not often you see a brother with a Nazi uniform on so it kind of worked out,” Jackson said. “There’s a really George Clintish pimped out outfit that we use with the big hat and the long coat and the whole thing.

Congraculations to Star Wreck: ItP - 3 years today!

August 20th, 2008 @ 8:21 | by Timo Vuorensola

Star Wreck 3 years!

Yes, today is the 3rd anniversary for the greatest frigging Sci-Fi parody out there - Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning! Three years ago today we were in Tampere, at the premiere of of our first feature film, and trust me, that feels like 3 million years.

To celebrate the third anniversary of Star Wreck, you should dig out the DVD out from your DVD-shelf, invite all your family and friends and re-watch the masterpiece!

Above is a great greetings card from one of our fans, vmv-81, and it says: Congraculations! Star Wreck In the Pirkinning 3 years! Thanks, vmv-81.

Also, today is the name day of Samuli, so double-congraculations to the Emperor! All hail Pirk!

Sauna, the first film out of Wreck A Movie directly to Toronto International Film Festival!

August 19th, 2008 @ 18:01 | by Timo Vuorensola

The first film to come out of Wreck A Movie -platform to hit the big screen, a Finnish horror film Sauna (directed by AJ Annila), has been chosen as one of the films in Toronto Film Festival’s programme. The gritty but devastatingly beautiful horror film is quite unlike any horror flick I’ve seen before, and I’m really expecting it to find a good audience through Toronto. But even more importantly for us, it’s great to see a film that has had the Wreck A Movie community touch in it (some of the Tasks brought results that can be seen/heard directly on the screen) ends up to international film festivals.

Here’s the trailer again:

In other news, VentureBeat featured Wreck A Movie in it’s article, which you can check out here. We are also planning to open the platform for any productions out there in just few days - first it’s for a test, but Wreck A Movie will advance to Public Beta by the end of September, when there will be a re-design of the site’s visual appearance, some major additions to the user interface, and Enter Your Own Production -feature. In other words, much more activity to be expected in coming months!

Keep on Wrecking, and congraculations to the whole team of Bronson Club for Sauna! Be sure to check out also their blog about the production of the film, some interesting stuff there as well.

Site downtime.

August 18th, 2008 @ 12:36 | by Jarmo Puskala

Our websites have been down since about 9.30PM last night and the blog seems to be the first one to come back up. This is because some serious electrical problems at our hosting provider.

According to them one of the main switches feeding electricity to their UPS systems melted and the ensuing blackout brought down some 1500 servers. Most of them are back up, but they’re still working on the repairs.

Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon and people working on the problem can get some sleep again.

Edit: The forum is also back up. The main server is down, but in queue.

Edit2: Wohoo, the server is back up!

Thanks to all of you who’ve been workign long hours to get everything fixed. Extra mentions go for hnsk @ irc and for the nice person who answered my helpdesk call, didn’t really expect anyone to be friendly at that point of the day.
