On the topic of intruding subtitles;
Why are the subtitles always IN the picture?
They don't NEED to be.. why not place them UNDER the picture?
This probably wouldn't be possible in the theater, but for dvds it should atleast be an option, where televisions/monitors rarely fit the film aspect ratio perfectly.
Whenever i watch a (ripped)movie with seperate plaintext subtitles (.srt, .sub, etc..) i have them offset to the bottom of the screen, and they are much easier to read from there aswell.

Also.. why are all theater film distribution subtitles so damn crappy looking?
Like they've been written with a dirty white marker, regardless of the background color - hard to read off a white background

Well, going with german actors - and even I know that there are lots of really interesting ones - sounds like great news to me.

I laugh every time someone says 'Shatner'. I'm don't know why, exactly, but it's a joyful thing. Also, I'm not sure whether Wheaton would laugh or cry or simply explode if you approach him about doing a Star Trek parody - it would be worth a try just to see which.

well, the opposite to "high standard actors" is star wreck. Either that or then really, really good actors. Good actors don't necassary mean over used faces. If I ever do next star wreck, I will most certainly email Wheaton :) And shatner!

Sounds exciting. However, I don't quite understand why having high standards for your actors and not being able to hire famous ones should present any special problems. The last thing you need is some tired star walking in to give a half-assed smirking cameo. If anything, you should go with ample-assed cameos that pander to your main target audience: Felicia Day as the nerdy yet cute Nazi ("Hitler, yay!"), Wil Wheaton as the nerdy and strongly opinionated commander, and so on.

Tarantino just recently told in an interview that he is going to use subtitles with his next project, which is also going to be multilangual (and with nazis, of course).
