Iron Sky completes German casting.

May 13th, 2009 by Jarmo Puskala

The Iron Sky team currently at the Cannes film festival announced the latest additions to the films cast today. Not only is the cast great, but amazingly it includes someone who’s taller than Timo!

Götz Otto as Klaus Adler

German actor Götz Otto will step in the boots of the intelligence officer Klaus Adler, a fanatic Moon Nazi devoted on invading the Earth. Otto has previously appeared in numerous feature films and tv-series, including attempting to kill James Bond as Mr. Stamper in the film Tomorrow Never Dies.

“When I first heard about Iron Sky, I instantly realized that it’s a really wicked idea, something only a Finn could come up with. Being German I thought it would be time for a comedy and spoof about this topic.” Otto comments.

According to Timo: “My main interest was to find an actor who’s shorter than me, and for this there’s no one better than almost two meter tall Otto. Götz is a humouristic actor and a real gentleman with the right kind of rough charm and a voice that blow the windshield off the microphone.”

The other two new cast members attached to Iron Sky are also from Germany. Veteran actor Tilo Prückner (The Neverending Story) will design the wunderwaffe of the Fourth Reich as the Nazi scientist Doktor Richter.

The legendary Udo Kier (Dogville, Blade, Shadow of the Vampire) will appear as the Nazi Moon base commander Wolfgang Höss.

Julia Dietze as Renate Richter

Earlier German actress Julia Dietze (1½ Ritter) joined the cast as Moon Nazi officer Renate Richter, who is sent to Earth with her fiancé Klaus Adler to find out if our planet is ripe for the Fourth Reich.

  1. Looks good. Damn good. Big up for choosing German actors – and that Julie Dietze looks dreamy in that uniform.

I also have to comment the graphical look of your website. I can only admire the consistent devotion to the motif. You guys are doing it RIGHT.

  2. [...] dabei sind laut dem Produktion Blog von Iron Sky unter anderem Udo Kier (Blade, Shadow of the Vampire), Götz Otto (Der Morgen stirbt [...]

You mean taller that you, Timo ;)

Nice to see you have officially shown us the main cast…..

  4. Sampo says:

Real jewel that Julia Dietze! <3

I hope this won’t be Mel Brooks-type of comedy… Personally, i’d love to see something similiar to Red Alert game series.. esp. since we’ve Udo “Yuri” Kier in the cast… anyways, keep up the good work :)

  6. James says:

This concept is too GREAT to be filmed as a comedy. If that is its original intent, please give it a rewrite. A serious “INDEPENDENCE DAY” or ‘WAR OF THE WORLDS” type movie would be, in my opinion, a tremendous worldwide hit.

  7. Endboss: Mel Brooks is not at the top of our influences list – Dr Strangelove is. ^_^ Also, Mr producer Torssonen loves the Red Alert games, so your hopes may not be in vain…

James: In our honest opinion, the concept is far too brilliant to be wasted as a run-of-the-mill action rumble. A serious comedy beats a ridiculous actioner any day of the week. I mean, Space Nazis from the Moon? C’mahn!

  8. Dr. Tom says:

I agree it should be serious. The photo of a military officer who hasn’t had a haircut in months is a sign of an amateurish movie.
Also Nazis on the Moon is quite feasible. After designing the V-2 that dropped big bombs on London, but before designing the Saturn rocket that put Americans on the moon, Dr. Werner Von Braun wrote “The Mars Project: a Technical Tale”. It was based on Nazi plans to build a base on Mars (not just the Moon).

First off, great to see you guys doing this. I look forward to seeing something like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
Second, I wonder if you could get Linus Torvalds to get you some assistance in the special effects for the movie. A Finnish movie with SFX powered by LINUX. Great advertisement for Finnish innovation.
Third, how about setting up an individual investor program? If someone were to pay around 50 Euros now, they would get a copy of the DVD and a limited edition poster signed by cast and crew once the movie is completed. Think of it as a type of viral investing.

    Best of luck,
