Christopher Kirby joins the cast of Iron Sky!

September 17th, 2010 by Jarmo Puskala

You might remember that we went to Australia a while back to do casting. Now we’d like you to meet Christopher Kirby who will be joining Iron Sky as the third member of the main cast. Christopher has spent the previous week in the deepest darkest Finnish countryside, holed up in a farm with Timo, Julia and Götz in an intensive rehearsal retreat, and today they emerged in front of the Finnish journalists.

Chris is an Australian-American actor who left Los Angeles for the land down under in 1999. He is a veteran of classic science fiction, starting his career with a role in Quantum Leap. He then went on to a recurring role in Space: Above & Beyond before moving on to films such as Daybreakers and Matrix: Reloaded & Matrix: Revolutions. Appropriately enough his character in the Matrix sequels was called Mauser.

Chris plays James Washington, the first African American astronaut on the moon. The year 2018 will see the first moon landing since 1972, sadly his crew won’t be as lucky as the Apollo astronauts.

Check out the interview with Chris below to hear what he’s got to say about fighting the Moon Nazi menace.

Now, I just have to wonder. Is there a limit to how awesome this movie is ever going to be, or is the awesomeness going to exponentially increase ad infinitum to the point the entire universe will be swallowed (and wrecked) by it? 8O

  2. Gari says:

    Udo Kier still on board?

  3. Udo is still on board, hell yeah!

  4. Joona says:

great concept..can’t wait for release…has shades of Harbinsons Genesis novels

  7. Joona says:

Hey, Kevan. Thanks for the tip. There are hundreds of thousands of SF novels out there and I have read maybe only about thousand. Still, never heard of Harbinson and Genesis. Took a quick web search, and sounds interesting. Gotta read ‘em.

Mostly I prefer first encounter, AI speculative, military, and “hard” SF. But looks like the Genesis novels can be regarded as “first encounter” in a way.

Alternate history is mostly boring (YAAAGH! Not ANOTHER Pournelle book!), but if done well, worth the while. And of course, if it has nazis in them, coolness factor goes to eleven. As in Indiana Jones.

    I’ll return you the favour:

Mind you, I am not at all militaristic let alone nazi. Those comics are just so bad they’re funny.

Yeah!!! Bring It! Right on down to Roswell! We need the entertainment! The aliens have left the building!!!
