2005. Sauna. Tampere, Finland. We had just finished another one of the endless shootings of Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. Jarmo had came up with the idea, and spilt it out – how about making a film about Nazis in the Dark Side of the Moon. There was laughter.
It didn’t feel very probable at the moment.
2010. My room. Frankfurt, Germany. Tomorrow, the shootings of Iron Sky begin. I’m nervous. Yet, thinking about the last five years, the painstakingly complicated process of building the dream with wonderful teams from Finland, Germany and Australia, does bring great memories. It’s been hard, but it’s been damn rewarding, and now – finally – the day we’ve been waiting for the last 5 years, the beginning of the actual shootings, is just around the corner.
It feels very real now.
It’ll be a blast. Thank you all for being around. We’ll make a film which you’ll love.
Wish us luck.

The very day has come…!
I hope you’re not too stressed.
Did you already get those two LCD screens?
Btw, there’s still some crew missing on IMDb, we’ve got no idea who are the assistants, who’s doing the sound etc. etc.
Great! I have been following the production a few weeks and I wish the best of luck to all! Let’s make a great movie!
And here is one fan a he wants to THANK YOU for what are you doing :)
Have fun and make a kick ass movie ;)
Good Luck!!! I am so looking foward to this!! Best Wishes from Tampa Florida!!
here’s a “good luck” from a fan in France. Hope this will be a kick-ass movie !
Greetings and all the best for the first shooting day!! If you need backup in the audio-production feel free to contact the Master-Course SoundStudies from the University of Bonn.

Only one day is left. Only one day.
Cannot wait. Viel Spaß!
HOORAH!
Best movie in years :D
näytä niille timo
My best wishes to you all, fingers X for a fine shotting
Good luck, and “ToiToiToi” (afaik a german well saying for theater and film artists).
Enjoy the stay in Germany.
Cheers
Thorsten
Greetings from Australia, Well done. Have a smooth shooting. Look forward to the result.
@Thorsten: Funny, here in the Netherlands we say the same!
Good luck everybody! (and don’t put live rounds in the guns, creates so much trouble, you know… ;) )
The best of luck with the shoot, and have fun! The sched’s tight, but you guys are miracle makers.
And a great big thankee for letting us follow you, and extra special thanks for the honesty. Too often directors and the team come across as übermench – everything is always going just great… As if filmmaking wasn’t about overcoming obstacles. It is great to follow a team that I can relate to.
Mämmiä ja salmiakkia ja ruisleipää napaan niin kyllä onnistuu! Go Go Go Timo!
Helmikuussa 2005 Timo esitteli Pirkinningin tekoa joukolle sivareita Lapinjärvellä. Silloin olisi kyllä kuulostanut aika utopistiselta jos olisi laukonut, että muutaman vuoden päästä tehdään pätkää vähän eri budjetilla. Eteenpäin on menty!
Break a leg with the shootings!
At last! I almost began to fear it wouldn’t take place until “some time next year”… ;) Keep on rocking!!!!
Timo, and everyone there actually: Näytä, mistä mies pissii! Tai siis jotain sinne päin… ;)
PS: Is Cristopher Lee around?
So exciting! Congratulations! You guys are cultural heroes, magnificent barbarians of cinema.
