The Longest Journey

December 31st, 2010 by Timo Vuorensola

We’ve just arrived here in Gold Coast. The sun is shining and the beach is awesome. We’re going to spend the new year’s eve over here, and then going to start the actual work – shooting Iron Sky. First two weeks are mostly preparations – scouting suitable locations, making sure the studio and the sets are shaping up well and rehearsing with actors and the stunts. It’ll be quite a heavy shooting session here, we have a lot to accomplish, and only limited time in our hands. But at least it’s warm, hopefully sunny and quite exotic – at least to a Finn.

Here’s a way too long Director’s Diary about how we got here. 33+ hour flight was quite a painful experience, but with a little help of King Alcohol, we dodged the jetlag completely. The trick was just to stay awake as long as possible, and already on the second day we got our rhythm right – let’s hope it keeps that way. Today is the New Year’s eve, and we’re planning to spend it BBQ:ing, surfing and drinking by the sea.

Hello and welcome to the Gold Coast! I hope you have a great time here. I work here as a corporate and freelance videographer, I’d be happy to help out if you need any more crew :)

    Hey guys!

I think I saw a document about the way food synchronises our internal clocks. I remember that one way to fight jet lag is to not eat during the flight but only when it is supposed to be lunch time in the destination. So, Samuli did just the right thing to eat large portion right on the target :)

Try out and tell how it went.

Very much looking forward to photos of Samuli on a surfboard! ;-)

Make shure you go to Nimbin (it’s close!!) where you get (almost completely) legally hemp and cannabis in the public. This is really unique. We want to see a video of that!

  8. Bob: No, no. No more hemp for Timo. ^_^
