The new definition of Awesome: COMBINE HARVESTER DEMOLITION DERBY

May 13th, 2008 @ 15:35 | by Jarmo Puskala

I have been wrong all these years, thinking that the awesomest form of entertainment is something that includes zombie space nazis or dinosaurs with laser guns. Now I’ve been shown the motorsport of pure awesomeness: COMBINE HARVESTER DEMOLITION DERBY!

This awesome sport is apparently practised in Lind, Washington in the US of A. And the festival comes complete with BBQ.

The scary thing is - when you actually see it, a COMBINE HARVESTER DEMOLITION DERBY looks eerily like a herd of guinea pigs fighting. And what’s even more scary is that I’m not the only one who got that first impression.

Remember the Oxford English Dictionary states that the grammatically correct way to spell COMBINE HARVESTER DEMOLITION DERBY is in all-caps. Or at least it should say that.

Holy *bleep*, NIN release *bleeping* album for free!

May 5th, 2008 @ 13:42 | by Jarmo Puskala

I just got over feeling warm and fuzzy about my copy of NIN’s Ghosts arriving in it’s physical form when NIN fires another salvo on the dusty old music industry.

They’ve released a new album again - and this time completely for free. And even better, it’s licenced under a Creative Commons attribution non-commercial share-alike license. It’s a bunch of big words, but basicly means you can share the album with your friends, remix and sample to your hearts content as long as it’s not for commercial purposes and you let others do the same to the stuff you create.

To quote a finnish commercial. “That’s pretty fair”.

And yes, we’re going to do the same with the Iron Sky teaser if you’re wondering. But the remix pack will be released bit later, simply because we need some time to put it together.

Some music for the night.

May 4th, 2008 @ 20:45 | by Jarmo Puskala

It’s the last crunch for the teaser. We’re sitting at the office and propably will be until late tomorrow. But it seems we’re on schedule and spirits are high right now.

But that for situation raport. We just took a little break and discussed finnish music we like. And general consensus was that Jumala by Apulanta is a good song, even if you don’t like the band. There’s also a great video for the song, made by Ihmiskunnan Ainoa Toivo. They’re one of the most interesting amateur film groups in Finland. Though the movies they make are pretty much the complete opposite of Star Wreck. The unfortunate side effect is that they are not very populist, they’re not the kind of short films people generally watch on the internet. Their films are small, personal stories and in finnish. But check out the video for Jumala below.

Energia Dailies X - Hot naked sauna action.

April 26th, 2008 @ 0:11 | by Jarmo Puskala

Have you ever seen Harvey Weinstein naked? I don’t think so. We here at Energia Productions do things a bit differently.

So here it goes, Dailies mobile special straight from Samuli’s sauna.

Sorry about the image quality, for some reason Nokia N93 isn’t designed to be used in a sauna.

Oh and if the site is crap, please tell us. On our office connectiont he videos stream pretty fast, but how about elsewhere in the world? Say on the other side of the ocean.

Urban Star Wars.

April 21st, 2008 @ 9:52 | by Jarmo Puskala

To keep an eye out what people are talking abotu us I’ve subscribed to Google Alerts for terms like “Star Wreck” and “Iron Sky”. Quite often these alerts have something that’s got absolutely nothing to do with us, most often it is bad poetry in the lines of “…something something something, under the iron sky…”

Now and then there’s something awesome, like this blog post entitled “Star Wreck” about pictures of Urban Star Wars…
