152 Days To Go: Chris Up Close

November 4th, 2011 by Timo Vuorensola

One of the biggest and the most challenging roles in the film is the one of Washington, played by Christoper Kirby. His character is an American “astronaut” of sorts that gets in big trouble with the Moon Nazis, and his story is one of the biggest and freakiest in the film. Chris is not the son of yesterday’s grouse, as we in Finland say. I know it doesn’t make any sense, and it really doesn’t, but it means that he’s been around for quite a while, and done some quite impressive films and TV in his career. Chris started out in an episode of Quantum Leap (so he knows the great Scott Bakula!!), and after that he’s been working on shows like Flipper and Beastmaster, and in films he’s done roles in Matrix Revolutions, Daybreakers, and Star Wars: Episode III, and his upcoming movie called Movie 43 seems to be quite an interesting one. So he’s an experienced, very talented actor who was willing to go all the way to hell and back for this film, and he quite literally did.

In this episode of Director’s Diary, which I shot after a full 10-hour ADR day, consisting of around 100 loops which is A MASSIVE AMOUNT, I’m having a chat with Chris about his thoughts on the film.

This time, the music for this is provided by an artist called Max Farnea, and his song Contro Il Mondo, from the album Drop Paths. Check it out, it’s available for free here! And you can listen to it straight away, here:

Iron Sky Comic #1 Is Out – Download It Now!

October 7th, 2011 by Janos Honkonen

A couple of days ago we published the first issue of the Iron Sky comic, and you guys really liked it – in the first day and a half the comic got over 17 500 readers and many of you chose to pay for it! Thank you!

As is our habit, we decided to give a little bit more for all of you who have supported us: all of you who have paid for the comic, or joined the Iron Sky Sneak Peek earlier, can now download the comic as a pdf or a cbz-file to read on the road with your computer, tablet or smartphone! Just click here and enjoy!

Cbz-files can be read with programs such as ComicBookLover (OS X, iPad, iPhone), ComicRack (Windows), CDisplay (Windows) or Droid Comic Viewer (Android).

If you have no idea what we are talking about, here’s some background information about the comic: the first issue, titled Bad Moon Rising, tells the story of how the Nazis fled the Earth. The coming issues will explore the decades after the WWII, the building of the Moon Station Schwarze Sonne, and the rise of Wolfgang Kortzfleisch (played by Udo Kier in the film) to the Führer of the Moon base.

As a thank you for our fan community we released the first part of the comic for free online, and you can find it here. If you want to support us, you can also pay for the comic and pick your own price – those who pay get also access to Iron Sky Sneak Peek, where you can see how the first five minutes of the film is created. Additionally they can now download the comic as a pdf or a cbz comic book file, and they will get the two other issues of the comic without an extra charge!

The three comics are written by Mikko Rautalahti, who has earlier worked on the Xbox 360 game Alan Wake, and the film Imaginaerum. The first issue is illustrated by Gerry Kissell, whose work includes Codeword: Geronimo, Children of the Grave, The A-Team: War Stories and Army of Two.

Once again all of this is published without DRM and all the money will go to making Iron Sky the best film we possibly can!

For now you can read the comic preview in your browser, but in the near future we will publish it in digital comic stores, and we are looking for ways to publish it in paper form also in different regions. So, if you want your own copy of the comic, stay tuned!

So, head over to Sneak Peek for issue #1 of the Iron Sky comic, Bad Moon Rising – written by Mikko Rautalahti of Alan Wake fame and illustrated by Gerry Kissel!

Moon Nazi Zeppelin Wallpaper? Here You Go!

May 13th, 2011 by Janos Honkonen

Hello everybody, and thank you for your support and enthusiasm over our third teaser and the release date – thanks to you, our new teaser is spreading like wildfire and right now as I’m writing this, there is a tweet, blog post or other mention of Iron Sky online every ten seconds – literally.

Many of you have been asking if there’s a desktop wallpaper version of the space Zeppelin picture we have as a background on the entry page. The least we can do to thank you for your help is to give you exactly that – here you go!

We Come In Peace – The Wallpaper (JPEG, 1980 x 1080, 456 KB)

We are currently in Cannes Film Festival where we are searching for distributors for the remaining countries and regions. So far we’ve sold the Iron Sky to Australia & New Zealand, Benelux, China, Czech Republic & Slovakia, Former Yugoslavia, Finland, German speaking Europe, Norway, Poland, Romania, Taiwan and Thailand, but there’s still a lot of globe to cover – and we want the Iron Sky release to be truly global!

A really big thanks to all of you who have Demanded Iron Sky, those red dots really help us to find distributors! Keep the demands coming and soon we have taken over the whole world!
