Iron Sky Teaser 3 – We Come in Peace!

May 12th, 2011 by Jarmo Puskala

Here is the third teaser for Iron Sky, titled “We Come in Peace!”. Several blogs have been quick to point out, that in addition to peace the space nazis come in gigantic airships full of flying saucers. Which they seem to think is rather suspicious…

There’s is also another surprise in store for the future: We have a release date and it’s 4.4.2012! So it’ll be 11 long months and Iron Sky will finally see the silver screen. I can’t wait.

Preview the Iron Sky Promotional Trailer on Sneak Peek

March 28th, 2011 by Jarmo Puskala

If you’ve been following us making Iron Sky you know we have a tendency to be a bit perfectionists. That means we want to make sure everything is just right before we release something. This time we decided to try something different and release a work-in-progress version of the promotional trailer of Iron Sky. Of course we can’t completely let go of our perfectionism, so the trailer will only be available to members of Iron Sky Sneak Peek.

Oh, and we published a new episode of Iron Sky Signal, which you can see below!

The video created as a promo for buyers at the Berlinale film festival to give a glimpse of what the live action in the film will look like. It’s missing about 50% of the material that will be in the final trailer – most notably the CGI. We’d love to hear your comments on Sneak Peek how to make it even more awesome. The finished version of the promo trailer will be released at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.

Originally we promised that Sneak Peek is the place to see the first five minutes of the film as soon as they’re complete. Meanwhile we’ve posted exclusive making of material, but we decided to expanding the service into an experimentation laboratory. We will release other pieces of ‘work in progress’ material in addition to the trailer, and ask for your feedback.

So head over to Iron Sky Sneak Peek at and get an eyeful of our new promotional trailer!

The New Life of a Prop.

February 3rd, 2011 by Antti Hukkanen

Someone asked us what we’re going to do with all the props we’ve had built once the shoots are over. Hopefully, we’ll have someplace better to store them than the backlot of the studio… so nobody has to do this in 30 years’ time.

Of course, we can only hope Iron Sky will stand the test of time nearly as well as Alien. But we’ll be doing our darnedest to make it so.

Iron Sky Shoot, Day 27: An ode to Udo

January 27th, 2011 by Timo Vuorensola

Monday – the first shooting day of the third week of the Iron Sky Australia shoot. Feeling groggy, muggy and a complete wreck of a human being in the morning we dragged our asses to the car and headed for the studio. We had two new sets built for us, but it was also the last shooting day for Udo Kier – so we had to rush through a bunch of material we still had left for him. The Führer’s office was one beautiful set, but even greater was the Machine Room, where we spent total two days filming in. And after the day, we said farewell to Udo and his awesome characterization of Wolfgang, the Führer of the Moon Base.

Working with Udo was in so many ways a privilege and a pleasure. He’s an intelligent, experienced and charismatic gentleman, who’s owning the set the moment he enters the room. He’s also always willing to bring a bit extra to the scene with small gestures – as Udo says, it’s not the dialogue or the big performances that really create the character, but the little things the character does. Those little things bring the character alive, and clear the room for the larger-than-life performances. And most importantly, he’s a really, really funny guy. He understands the subtle levels of comedy, and knows the basic fact that in comedy usually less is more. I’m quite confident his portrayal of the Führer will be unique.

I certainly hope I have a chance to work with Udo again sometime in the future.
