CGI Friday – New Iron Sky Signal & Sneak Peek!

September 2nd, 2011 by Janos Honkonen

Hello! If you are into CGI, this will be an interesting day for you, since you will get two in depth peeks into the Iron Sky visual effects. First of all we have just released a new Iron Sky Signal, which is about the guys in Energia Productions cranking out the Iron Sky visual effects – more or less 24/7!

We have also – finally – released the next installment of Iron Sky Sneak Peek, our fan service where the subscribers will get to see how the first five minutes of Iron Sky are being made, starting from the idea and progressing month by month to the final movie. This time you’ll see the second CGI previz of the Moon sequence, where some parts of the CGI are already starting to resemble the end result. If you are not already following the Sneak Peek, now it’s a great time to start – every cent from the subscriptions goes into making the film!

Iron Sky Signal E19: Frankfurt Wrap and Fan Investors

December 22nd, 2010 by Jarmo Puskala

In the latest episode of Iron Sky Signal we see how the second half of the Iron Sky shoot in Germany went. We also had community investors visit us on the set and we had a chance to ask them what they thought about the production. Then we were caught in a huge snowstorm.

You probably know that we’ll be heading to Australia early next year for the second half of the shoot. Let’s hope there won’t be any snowstorm on the Gold Coast.

Before that most of the Iron Sky team will be spending a peaceful Christmas holiday. Meanwhile at the Energia office people are busy building up the infrastructure. They’ll be replacing some couple of kilometers of old network cables, installing routers and going all paranoid building a secure backup system. Sadly, hardening the bank vault against EMP’s was deemed too expensive. But they’ll be planning for floods, fires and other moderately apocalyptic acts of god.

Iron Sky Signal E18 – Fans and Explosions in Frankfurt

November 25th, 2010 by Jarmo Puskala

On our fifth day of shooting we closed down Neue Mainzer Straße in the financial district of Frankfurt. The street was dressed up as New York and we invited over 100 fans as extras.

The new Iron Sky Signal is all about that day. And it was an exceptionally good day.

Thank you to everyone who showed up! You made the day a huge success. We’ve seen the footage and it looks great. And we’re still happy as a bunch of kids about the huge explosion. We might grow up but that just means our toys get bigger.

Follow updates from the shoot on Facebook and Twitter.

Iron Sky Signal E17: First shootings and Sneak Peek

November 18th, 2010 by Jarmo Puskala

It’s been a busy day here in Frankfurt. The first day of shooting Iron Sky is behind us and Timo blogged his feelings earlier. We’ll be shooting a big action scene on Sunday and if you can make it to Frankfurt you can join us as an extra.

But that’s not all, we also launched a new thing called Iron Sky Sneak Peek. And we have a new episode of Iron Sky Signal!

Iron Sky Sneak Peek let’s you follow how the first few minutes of the film are made, from the idea to the script, up until the final cut. You’ll get an unprecedented inside view to the workings of a scifi movie project. Finally, a year from now, you’ll be among the first ones to see the finished opening scene before the film is officially released.

You decide how much you want to pay for the Sneak Peek, starting from one euro upwards. We’ll publish new material on a monthly basis, following the progress of the movie from the idea to script, storyboards, animatics and so on, right up to the finished film.
